When I was a child and my mother opened a book and read aloud to me, I’d snuggle against her, transported on her soft and somehow magical voice as we set off on armchair adventures, far from daily cares.

Today I invite others to travel with me as I:

  • guide participants to enter make-believe worlds of their imagination. In collaborative Story Quilt projects, I help participants write an allegorical collaborative story. Then Peg Gignoux turns the writers into illustrators as they add visual images to our words, designing and embellishing vivid quilts that decorate schools, libraries, and community centers.
  • stir excitement, enthusiasm and emotions that stimulate powerful discussions during CEU workshops for teachers. These continuing education classes for K-12 teachers stimulate while they satisfy a range of reading methods credit needs.
  • explore thousands of books and audios for my reviews and article.
  • suggest books and activities during family and community nights that open doors to the world of reading and writing.

When I share my passion for books and writing, wonder, ideas, and good talks result—just as they did when I was a child.
