Creating Children’s Books: Session I (Structure) and Session II (Style)
These linked five-session classes blend hands-on exploration of children’s books with exercises to stimulate ideas and opportunities to present your ideas and writing. In Session I, discover what how to structure a successful children’s book with well-developed characters, who have strong motivations, compelling conflicts and satisfying resolutions. In Session II learn tools that show, not tell and discover your own unique voice.
Writing-Illustrating Workshop
Access the expertise of both writer and visual artist as Susie Wilde and Peg Gignoux lead a workshop that allows you to explore the wonders of text and texture as you connect words with illustrations.
Critique Workshops:
Under Susie Wilde’s leadership, children’s book writers learn by reading their work with a group. During an eight part series of 2 ½ hour sessions, participants listen, evaluate and offer beneficial comments and suggestions to improve evolving manuscripts. Day or evening critique sessions are limited to six serious writers. Participants must have completed both Creating Children’s Books sessions, or have obtained prior approval.
